GIFT USA is honored to partner with Tayaba Foundation on a project dedicated to supporting current and formerly incarcerated individuals. Established in 2008, Tayaba Foundation provides Islamic education aimed at refining the thinking and behavior of these men and women. As part of this collaboration, GIFT USA is involved in the Motivational Interviewing Course, a key component of Tayaba’s Life Skills program. This course is designed to help individuals find their internal motivation for positive change. To date, 207 incarcerated Muslims and non-Muslims have successfully completed the course, receiving certificates of achievement. Together, we are committed to empowering lives through education and personal growth.
Like the 12 steps program, this course is a major step toward furthering the development of approaching addiction and addiction treatment from the perspective of the faith of Islam. Authored by two Tayba currently incarcerated Muslims who, with lived experience, desire to help others in recovery and guide them on the Islamic path. Since its conception, 654 incarcerated Muslims have benefitted from this material.
