Give Light Foundation is a non-profit humanitarian relief organization, established in Sunnyvale, California, USA in January 2005 by a group of young professionals. The foundation seeks to create durable orphanages and provide orphan care in response to natural disasters and extreme conditions, like poverty and war.
Since its inception, Give Light has been able to operate primarily using volunteer talents in the US to generate awareness and funds for our global projects. Inspired by Islamic values we strive to help orphans across the globe regardless of nationality, race or religion.
A vision to rebuild a future emerged just a few weeks after the December 26, 2004 Asia Tsunami. Our first orphanage in Aceh, Indonesia became a reality only a year later and we’ve been expanding ever since. Read more about how we began and our journey so far.
Our Mission
Our mission is to build and sustain beautiful homes and provide our children with long term, high quality education. We strive to recreate a loving family, a sense of belonging and strong identity/self-esteem. We do this by making sure our staff on the ground has the highest moral standard and share our love and passion for the cause. We have family/relatives close to each home who go to visit often and unannounced. We also send volunteers from the US to stay at our homes and teach them different skills.
